Sailing

Sailing is the means of circumventing all of that water between shorelines. A commander with the Sailing trait has a boat (or can at least get one quickly) and can take himself and his troops from one coastal province to another in a single month.

Typical Sailing has a fixed range that varies with each map. It's typically two provinces; that means that, as long as the commander and his squad have enough Map Movement to exit their province and enter their destination, they ignore up to two sea provinces in their path. Dominions 6 does not have any systems for allowing sailing to take more than one turn; perhaps citrus isn't around to prevent scurvy.

Ships have Size limits that must be taken into account. The biggest ships belong to Pretender Gods such as the Titan of Winds and Waves, and to the Admirals and Royal Navigators of Late Marignon; even these have a Size cap of 999 points, however. Smaller or less-advanced ships typically have an individual size cap on certain units; for instance, the Berytian sailors can only take Size-3-or-lower fellows on their vessels.

Last-but-not-least, previous Dominions games did not allow for Sailing commanders to retreat back across the sea, and this is probably the case for Dominions 6 as well.
