====== Snow Move ====== A creature with **Snow Move** ignores the movement penalty that snow imposes in cold provinces. ===== Map Movement ===== The cost of crossing a province border is the sum of two half-steps, one for leaving the first province and one for entering the second. See map-movement for the wider system. A snow-covered province makes both of its own half-steps **1 point** more expensive, and Snow Move removes that penalty. The saving therefore depends on how many of the two provinces are snowed in. ^ Move ^ Extra cost without Snow Move ^ | Between two cold provinces | 2 points | | Between a cold province and a warm one | 1 point | | Between two warm provinces | none | A province is snow-covered whenever its temperature is cold, however that cold arose. Sea provinces and cave provinces never count as snow-covered, so the penalty does not apply to them at any temperature. The penalty is applied before roads are taken into account, and a road makes the finished half-step cost 2 points lower, so a road can absorb part or all of it. ===== Other ways to avoid the snow movement penalty ===== Snow Move is not the only way to escape the penalty. It is also never paid by: * creatures with Flight, which are not subject to terrain movement costs at all * Floating creatures, including those floating from the Weightlessness bless
