In disciples games, any global enchantment that has an effect on the caster's dominion applies to the entire team, no matter whether the owner is a pretender or disciple. Gem generating effects still only apply to the caster, though. | In disciples games, any global enchantment that has an effect on the caster's dominion applies to the entire team, no matter whether the owner is a pretender or disciple. ===== Overcast Strength ===== | ===== Casting and Dispelling Cost ===== |
| |
Every global has a minimum cost, but more gems can be spent over this minimum in order to 'reinforce' the global and protect it from being dispelled. The total number of gems that can be spent on a global is 100 × the caster's level in the global's magic path. Any skill level the caster has in the spell's path over the casting requirement also reinforces the spell's strength. | Every global has a minimum cost, but more gems can be spent over this minimum in order to 'reinforce' the global and protect it from being dispelled. This "overcast" value is then equal to 1 × excess gems spent + 5 × caster's excess skill in spell's path. For example, an mage casting ??Earth Blood Deep Well?? with would provide an overcast value of 5 + 10 = 15 (excess gems + excess paths). | This "overcast" value is then equal to 1 × excess gems spent + 5 × caster's excess skill in spell's path. | Some units with the grand communicant ability can use the "Grand Communion" order to assist with the casting of a global ritual in the same province. This causes the overcast value of the global to increase by 1 for every level of skill the grand communicants have in the path of the ritual. |
| |
| >Example: An Arch Theurg is casting dispel. In the same province there are three Theurgs and five Theurg Acolytes. The primary caster invests 12 extra gems to empower the dispel attempt. Two of the Theurgs and four of the Theurg Acolytes forego other activities and join the casting using the order ‘Grand Communion’. Dispel is an astral ritual so the astral scores of all joining members are added to the dispel attempt. The Theurgs each have an astral skill of 2 and the Acolytes have a skill of 1. The total added value is four for the Theurgs and four for the Acolytes bringing the total strength of the dispel attempt up to 20. |

When the spell is cast, if no one else has already cast the same global, it will look for an empty slot, and if no empty slots exist, it will pick a preexisting global at random and attempt to dispel it. If the same global is already up, it will always attempt to dispel the previous copy. | When the spell is cast, if no one else has already cast the same global, it will look for an empty slot, and if no empty slots exist, it will pick a preexisting global at random and attempt to dispel it.
